Russian warship pays official visit to Greece 19.08.2010

Black Sea Fleet (BSF) frigate Ladny arrived Wednesday to the port of Piraeus, southern Greece with an official call, reported RIA Novosti referring to Sergei Demianov, Russian military attaché to Greece.

According to him, Russian mariners plan to meet with representatives of Piraeus city administration, Aegean Naval Command, leadership of local naval cadet corps, naval academy, and police.

Also, the crew will attend memorial service and lay wreaths at Piraeus memorial cemetery where Russian sailors who defended independence of Greece in XIX century are buried. The Ladny's crew plans to visit Athenian Acropolis and Greek battleship museum Georgios Averof.

The cruise commander is Capt 1 rank Oleg Krivorog; Ladny's CO is Capt 2 rank Alexander Shvarts. The visit will last till Aug 20, and then the ship will head for Italy to take part in Russian-Italian joint naval exercise, concluded Russian military attaché to Greece.
