Nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine K-51 Verkhoturye – Project 667BDRM Delfin lead sub – will arrive to Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center under its own power in the evening of Aug 23. That information was taken by the Central Navy Portal from unaccredited sources.

The sub will pass the yard repair at Zvezdochka and her service life will be prolonged for 5 years. Previously, in 1999 Zvezdochka carried out interim overhaul and modernization of the submarine. Verkhoturye will be laid up in autumn after launching of SSBN Novomoskovsk which is at final stage of repairs and upgrade.

With arrival of SSBN Verkhoturye to Zvezdochka shipyard, the overhaul and modernization cycle of all Project 667BDRM subs will start.

Lead sub of Project 667BDRM SSBN K-51 Verkhoturye was laid down in Feb 1981 at Sevmash shipyard (Severodvinsk); launched in Jan 1984; and commissioned in Dec 1984.
