Rear Admiral Sergei Farkov will be appointed Baltic Fleet (BF) Commander in the nearest time, reports Interfax referring to a source in Baltic Fleet HQ.

The appointment will be made after the current BF Commander Vice Admiral Viktor Chirkov heads Pacific Fleet, said the source.

Sergei Farkov took over the post of BF Deputy Commander in Sept 2009 after transfer from Northern Fleet. Since Nov 2009 Rear Admiral S. Farkov holds the post of BF Chief of Staff.
