Nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine Yury Dolgoruky returned from subsequent phase of the builder's sea trials, reports REGNUM referring to the press service of Sevmash shipyard.
The sub has completed trial program, showed good sailing characteristics and stable operation of all onboard systems. Teamwork of the crew headed by Capt 1 rank V.V. Shirin and Sevmash's trial team led by N. Semakov resulted in successful accomplishment of the trial tasks. Representatives of design bureau and contracting organizations also took part in trials. SSBN Yury Dolgoruky will soon join the ranks of Russian nuclear subs and become the "initiator" of Project 955. Those subs will constitute the basis of Russian naval strategic nuclear force when currently in-service subs of projects 941 and 667BDR/BDRM are decommissioned. But now the 4-gen "strategist" is examined by the sea. Judging by trials held this year, exams are being passed successfully.
Nowadays the sub's crew and trial team face a new objective – to get ready for another trial phase which is scheduled in Sept.
