Israeli administration strives to hinder Russia's arms to be sold to Damascus, including antiship missiles Yakhont, reports Israeli newspaper Haaretz. According to the source, Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the matters of the possible sales of those missiles to Syria in phone talk with his Russian counterpart. As for Israel, such arms could pose a serious threat to its navy, points out the source.

In addition, Tel-Aviv is concerned that Syria could hand over the missiles to Lebanese radical group Hezbollah. During the phone talk with Moscow, Netanyahu reminded that militants of that group had used Russian arms against Israeli servicemen.

Expectedly, Russian arms export to Syria will become one of the focal points of coming visit of Israeli defense minister Ehud Barak to Moscow.
