On Sept 6 American frigate USS Tailor paid an official call to Murmansk. The visit is associated with 65th anniversary of the victory in WW2 and 69th anniversary of the first Arctic Convoy arrived to Arkhangelsk under US-USSR lease agreement.

The frigate moored in the Kola Bay off Murmansk sea port. The host ship is Northern Fleet (NF) large landing ship Kondopoga under command of Capt 2 rank Gennady Medvedev.

At the first day, commanding officer of the American frigate accompanied by US Consul General in St Petersburg paid courtesy visits to Murmansk harbor captain, city mayor, and senior naval officer. The US delegation also met with the regional governor. Reporters had an opportunity to get on board the American warship.

Crews of USS Tailor and NF large landing ship Kondopoga will play volleyball, basketball, and tug-of-war games. American sailors will have huge cultural program including coach tours over Murmansk, visits of NF Naval Museum and Murmansk regional museum.

The visit will last till Sept 9.

USS Tailor was named after naval pilot Capt. Tailor lost in the Vietnam War. The ship was commissioned into US Navy on Dec 1, 1984.

The ship's displacement is 4,100 tons, length is 138 meters, beam is 14 meters, draft is 6.7 meters, speed is over 29 knots. Home base is Mayport, Florida.
