Two Russian crewmembers of MV UAL Tycoon (shipowner is Dutch company Flinter) were released from pirate captivity and returned home to Petrozavodsk and Arkhangelsk, reported Russian Sailors' Guild referring to the shipowner.
The ship was captured on Aug 11 off Nigeria.
"Armed robbers ransacked quarters of the crew consisted of four Russians and three Ghanaians. Having taken along two Russians – shipmaster and chief mate – and one Ghanaian, pirates sailed away", said the website of sailor's union.
Talks on sailors' release were held in strict confidence, media leaks were excluded, reported the press release.
"Pirates by all means strove for publicity to have an effect on the shipowner and make him fulfill all their demands. However, that was not happened and so played an important role in regular completion of the situation", said the release.
The shipowner said he was ready to appropriate money for psychological and medical aid to exhausted sailors and their relatives, the release said.
