Having finished friendly visit to Kamchatka, USCGS Jarvis left Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski today and headed for her responsibility zone off Alaska, reported Russian FSB Frontier Service, Northeast Dept.

Patrol ship Jarvis from 17th US Coast Guard District has been visiting Kamchatka since Sept 21. Prior to entering Avachinskaya Harbor, the USCG ship held joint drills with Russian patrol ship Vorovsky in neutral waters of the Pacific Ocean. The crews practiced intercommunication between the ships and joint rescue of distressed people on the sea with participation of both shipborne helicopters.

USCGS Jarvis is a Hamilton class patrol craft. Displacement is 3,250 tons; length is 115 meters; beam is 13 meters; draft is 4.6 meters. Diesel-gas-turbine powerplant is capable to provide the speed up to 29 knots and cruising range of 14,000 nm. The ship's crew is 167 men, endurance is 45 days. Armament: one 76-mm gun mount, one 20-mm Phalanx CIWS, two 25-mm automatic guns, sliding hangar and heliport for a shipborne helicopter.
