Starting from 2013, Russia's Black Sea Fleet will be annually reinforced with one or two Project 11356 frigates, reports RIA Novosti citing Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief ADM Vladimir Vysotsky.
Ships of this project (export variant – Project 11356) are being currently built for Indian Navy.
"It has been decided that since 2013 Black Sea Fleet will annually get one or two 1st rank ships. In this particular case the question is frigates to be constructed by Yantar shipyard after completion of the Indian order", Vysotsky said.
According to him, Kaliningrad shipyard Yantar has already obtained an order from Russian Navy to build first three ships of this project. "In 2015 Black Sea Fleet will have in inventory at least five such frigates capable to accomplish various missions including anti-piracy tasks in the Gulf of Aden", outlined the commander.
At present, Russia conducts serial production of Project 22350 frigates for the national navy. Project 11356 frigates will be constructed to increase combat power of Black Sea Fleet.
In 2010-2011 Indian Navy will receive three Project 11356 ships. The contract value exceeds $1.5 bln. India obtained three ships of this project in 2004 – INS Talwar, INS Trishul, and INS Tabar.
