Test launch of Russian-Indian cruise missile BrahMos will be conducted early in 2011 at the Baltic Sea by Project 11356 frigate which is being built for Indian Navy, reported BrahMos managing co-director Alexander Maksichev at Euronaval-2010.

"Russian shipyard Yantar (Kaliningrad) builds three Project 11356 frigates for Indian Navy", reminded Maksichev. He added that first of them would start sea and mooring trials in the nearest time.

"Cruise missiles BrahMos will be tested during the ship's sea trials in the Baltic; that will happen early next year", said the official. According to Maksichev, it is hard to set date of trials precisely; it depends on the weather in the Baltic.

Maksichev admitted that "there's a certain delay in the ship's building process"; however, "the missile construction is on schedule". He reminded that "launcher and control system of the missile are made by Indian partners, while Russian party – NPO Mashinostroyenie - is responsible for missile part".
