Tiny wooden shallop Rusich which sailed off Tolyatti early Sept to repeat the cruise of eminent Russian seafarer Afanasy Nikitin is not let down by compatriots. The route goes to India via the recently notorious Gulf of Aden, so it was decided to escort the expedition through the piracy-risky waters.

Being on station in the region, Russia's large ASW ship Admiral Levchenko was sailing alongside Rusich throughout the gulf. Three marines from Russian tanker Olyokma boarded the shallot when she reached the Arabian Sea, after 50th meridian. The guard party providing security of Rusich is headed by WO Pavel Mazavin, Baltic Fleet 336th Guard marine brigade; his subordinates are enlisted Anton Chernyshev and Vladimir Sinyakov.

Then the adventures came. Three small motorboats emerged nearby Rusich the day before yesterday. They did not respond to radio calls, and then one of them started to head in. Russian marines on board Rusich shot a cautionary blast; right after that the unidentified motorboat gave up and changed the course.
