In 2011 Russia's defense expenditure will be RUR 1,953 bln which is 19 per cent of national budget expenses, reported RIA Novosti citing minister of finance Alexei Kudrin. As for him, those funds will be appropriated for Russia's national security and defense capacity. It was previously reported that in 2011 defense expenses would be 19.1 per cent higher than in 2010 and make RUR 1,521 bln.
At present, Russian government develops arms procurement program for 2011-2020. Many paragraphs have not been promulgated so far; however, it is known that amount of program budgeting in the next decade will be RUR 22-22.5 trillions including RUR 19 trillions directly for defense ministry. According to the defense program, portion of new arms in Russian armed forces will be increased up to 70-80 per cent. Currently, this parameter is about 10 per cent.
Russian Vedomosti wrote in mid-Oct that defense expenses of 2010 would be RUR 380 bln, in 2011 – RUR 460 bln, in 2012 – RUR 596 bln, in 2013 – RUR 980 bln. Those numbers are all about procurement of new arms and equipment. According to preliminary information, in 2010 Russia's military expenses would reach RUR 1,277 bln, while in 2012 that number would be RUR 1,661 bln, and in 2013 – RUR 2,102 bln.
