Nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) Svyatoi Georgy Pobedonosets returned from the training cruise and was triumphantly met in Viliuchinsk submarine base, reported RIA Novosti citing a representative of Pacific Fleet (PF) press service.
In October SSBN Svyatoi Georgy Pobedonosets carried out underwater launch of ballistic missile from the Sea of Okhotsk against Chizha range in the White Sea.
"When the sub was moored and CO Capt 1 rank Anatoly Nescheret reported that the cruise mission had been successfully completed, the crew was congratulated by PF Executive Officer RADM Sergei Avakiants and top-ranking officers of Far East grouping. Traditional piglet roast was handed over to the submarine commander", said the interviewee.
He emphasized that successful underwater launches of ballistic missiles performed by SSBN Svyatoi Georgy Pobedonosets, SSBN Dmitry Donskoy, and SSBN Bryansk were Russian Navy's focal events in Oct 2010.
"Crewmembers of the submarine who had distinguished themselves were awarded with valuable gifts and certificates of appreciation for excellently performed work", said PF representative.
He added that submarines of this project constitute the core of Russia's strategic nuclear forces at Pacific Fleet.
