Black Sea Fleet hazers broke young sailor's jaw

10.11.2010 Military hazing at Black Sea Fleet (BSF) large landing ship Caesar Kunikov was resulted in broken jaw of a young sailor.

The sailor was immediately delivered to BSF hospital in Sevastopol and operated, said a source in Black Sea Fleet HQ to the Central Navy Portal.

Large landing ship Caesar Kunikov was built in 1986 in Gdansk, Poland. The ship serves in 197th landing ships brigade of 30th surface ships division and is actively used in exercises and the fleet's combat training.

In 1993 Caesar Kunikov took part in Russia's peacekeeping mission in Georgia. In summer 1999 the ship delivered Russian peacekeepers to Greek port of Salonika along with BSF landing force dispatched to Kosovo; for excellently accomplished mission the crew was distinguished by Russian Prime Minister. In 2008 Caesar Kunikov participated in BSF combat actions during the conflict in South Ossetia. Being a landing group flagship (large landing ships Caesar Kunikov and Saratov, small-size missile ship Mirazh, and small-size ASW ship Suzdalets), the ship get into battle against group of Georgian missile boats on Aug 10, 2008.

Caesar Kunikov is under patronage of Zelenograd, Moscow region.

The ship's displacement is 4,080 tons; length is 112.5 meters; beam is 15 meters; draft is 3.7 meters; crew is 87.
Max speed is 18 knots; fuel range is 6,100 miles at 15 knots.
Propulsion plant is two diesels with total power of 19,200 shp, two screws.
Troop capacity is up to 10 battle tanks and about 200 marines.
Armament: 2x2 57-mm AK-725 gun mounts, 4x8 MANPADS launchers, 2x30 122-mm rocket launchers A-215 Grad-M.
