Group of Lithuanian military inspectors completed their work in Russia's Baltic Sea in accordance with the Vienna Document 1999 of the Negotiations on Confidence- and Security-building Measures.

Visiting Kaliningrad region, inspectors led by Maj Kelevisus Darius analyzed the information afforded by Russia according to "Regulations related to data on military forces and deployment plans of major weapon systems".

Military experts visited Baltic Fleet (BF) airbase units located in Chkalovsk and Chernyakhovsk, inspected aircraft hardware and administrative areas. During scheduled briefing, BF Airbase Commander LCol Viktor Litvinov told about principal activities of the unit.

As a result of the work done, representatives of Lithuanian party reported that they were completely satisfied with management of the inspection and had not found any violations of the Vienna Document 1999.

Vienna Document 1999 of the Negotiations on Confidence- and Security-building Measures (Vienna Document 1999) was adopted by OSCE Security Cooperation Forum on November 16, 1999 during OSCE Summit in Istanbul. The document has been effective since Jan 1, 2000 ????. It is natural evolvement of Vienna Documents of 1990, 1992 and 1994. Participants of the Vienna Document (1999) are 55 countries which are OSCE members.

The goal of the Vienna Document (1999) is stepwise implementation of new, effective, and certain activities aimed to strengthen confidence, security-building, and disarmament trends in order to express commitment of countries to avoid use of force or threat of force in mutual and international relations.
