Information of some media sources that the legendary cruiser Avrora would be handed over to Ministry of Culture is in contrary to fact, reports Russian Navy's Information Support Dept.

"This [the cruiser's transfer] has not been and is not planned", said the release.

According to Navy's official report, non-operational cruiser Avrora which was everlastingly moored in Aug 1944 will function as a full-fledged branch of the Central Naval Museum. The ship will undergo staff reorganizations, and military crew will be replaced with civilian employees of the museum.

The cruiser's routine activities won't change. Presumably, the honorable duty of hoisting the St. Andrew's Flag would be laid upon cadets of Nakhimov Naval School, said the release.
