During celebration of the Ukrainian Navy Day, Russian and Ukrainian naval servicemen, representatives of local authorities, community, veterans of Navy and Armed Forces laid wreaths to Eternal Flame at the Memorial to Heroes defended Sevastopol in 1941-1942.

The wreath-laying ceremony ended with national anthem of Ukraine, parade of honor guard and Ukraine's naval band.

Among attendants of the solemn events were Ukrainian Navy Commander Admiral Viktor Maksimov, Russian Black Sea Fleet (BSF) Commander Vice Admiral Vladimir Korolev, Sevastopol Mayor Valery Saratov, and the chairman of Sevastopol City Council Yury Doinikov.

Appearing at the press conference, BSF Commander Vladimir Korolev expressed hope that in 2011 Russian and Ukrainian navies would conduct larger and more miscellaneous exercises than the joint computer-assisted headquarter exercise Fairway of Peace 2010 held this year.

"I think the good beginning of cooperation was made at the exercise Fairway of Peace 2010 conducted by our fleets", said Vladimir Korolev. "In 2011 we're going to have more constructive training related with inter-branch groupings. I guess that soon we will discuss our prospects with my esteemed counterpart once again".
