Historical exhibition "Flaming Far East" takes place in St. Petersburg

17.12.2010 Exhibition "Flaming Far East" associated with 105th anniversary of termination of the Russo-Japanese War takes place in St. Petersburg until Jan 23, 2011.

Among the showpieces are copies of rare and hard-to-get original photographs stored in various archives, reproductions of pictures painted by Soviet and Russian military artist N.S. Samokish and modern marine painter A.A. Tron. Also, routine things, uniforms, and headdresses are shown.

The museum offers free excursions in second and fourth Sundays of every month.

Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905 was launched by Japan for Manchuria and Korea, and finished with Russia's defeat. In accordance with Portsmouth peace treaty, Russia recognized Japan's dominance over Korea, conceded southern part of Sakhalin Island, leased Liaodong peninsula and South-Manchurian railway.
