Russian Navy auxiliary fleet's flag was hoisted on new Black Sea Fleet (BSF) harbor tug RB-389 on March 2 in Novorossiysk. Black Sea Fleet has acquired the advanced support vessel.
RB-389 arrived to Novorossiysk via inland waterways from St. Petersburg where she was launched by JSC
Leningrad Shipyard Pella in July 2010.
RB-389 is a Project 90600 new-generation tug. Despite small size, the vessel has wide range of capabilities and numerous technical innovations applied. Total displacement is 417 tons; full speed is 12 knots provided by two powerful engines; tractive power at towing hook is about 25 tons. The tug is equipped with advanced radioelectronics; ship control is fully computerized. The crew is 12.
The flag-hoisting ceremony was headed by Capt 1 rank Artur Bokoyev, Novorossiysk Naval Base Deputy Commander. When the solemn meeting is finished, a churchman consecrated the ship's flag and wished sailors the God's protection and success in service.
The new tug will be registered in Black Sea Fleet Auxiliary Ship Brigade. In June 2011 another vessel of the same project will be commissioned into BSF.
