Planning protocol of naval exercise Pomor-2011 was signed on board large ASW ship Admiral Levchenko in Severomorsk. The exercise will be attended by sea and air assets of Russia's Northern Fleet and Royal Norwegian Navy.

The program of the exercise includes artillery firings, anti-piracy drills, and search-and-rescue operations. Also, the participants are going to practice interoperability. The remarkable fact is that in this year maneuvers will be carried out in the period between two significant dates – Russia's Victory Day (May 9) and Norway's Constitution Day (May 17). So, all personnel attending the exercise will take part in festivities. First in Kola Peninsula, then after fire drills – in Norwegian port Tromso. The time for exercise was selected to demonstrate a good-neighborly attitude of the two countries.

According to Norwegian top-ranking officer, the coming exercise would be sequential to the last year's large scale maneuvers which were held at a crucially new level.
