Russian Navy Main HQ is planned to move from Moscow to St. Petersburg late in 2011 or early in 2012, reports RIA Novosti referring to deputy defense minister Grigory Naginsky.
"Navy Main Headquarters will be transferred from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Obviously, that will happen late in the current year or in the first quarter of 2012", he said.
As for him, the date of the headquarters transfer is being presently discussed with Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Vladimir Vysotsky.
The matter of the Navy HQ transfer has being discussed for several years now; decisions to move it and to leave in Moscow have been changed many times through this period. The Navy HQ plates were hanged on the doors of the Admiralty in St. Petersburg several years ago. Note that in Oct 2010 Naginsky said it was not planned to transfer Navy Main HQ to St. Petersburg.
