Landing ship Yamal left Sevastopol to attend BLACKSEAFOR activation 05.04.2011

Black Sea Fleet (BSF) large landing ship Yamal commanded by Capt 3 rank Alexei Gritsai sailed off Sevastopol on Apr 4 and headed for Turkish port Istanbul; the ship will attend spring activation of BLACKSEAFOR and take part in festivities related to 10th anniversary of the task force, said BSF Commander's press-secretary Capt 1 rank Vyacheslav Trukhachev.

The cruise commander is BSF Landing Ship Brigade executive officer Capt 2 rank Sergei Zvyagin.

On board the ship are cadets of Russian naval colleges; they have practice in various specialties during the cruise.

BSF marine unit aboard Yamal will provide security while sea passage and moorage at foreign ports.

Farewell ceremony was held in the morning Apr 4.

The Russian warship is expected to arrive in Istanbul on Apr 5.
