Northern Fleet (NF) has started integrated exercise at training ranges of the Barents Sea. The maneuvers are held under general auspices of NF Deputy Commander Vice Admiral Alexander Vitko, reports ITAR-TASS citing NF Commander's press-secretary Capt 1 rank Vadim Serga.

Among the exercise's participants are missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov, destroyer Admiral Ushakov, missile ships, diesel submarines, large landing ships, small ASW ships, minesweepers of Kola flotilla, and NF nuclear-powered submarines. The ships' actions are supported by antisubmarine aviation.

According to Serga, ships have already completed numerous gun/missile/torpedo firings, depth charge and minelaying drills. Joint maneuvering, submarine search and tracking, antiaircraft warfare activities were practiced during the exercise. Crews of warships once again proved their capability to accomplish all assigned tasks. Next step in their training process will be task force exercises which are traditionally held in summer.
