Northern Fleet (NF) task force will be dispatched to the Gulf of Aden in the nearest time; NF warships will rotate Pacific Fleet task force which has successfully completed the shipping security mission there, reported a spokesman for Russian Navy.

"Navy command estimates anti-piracy activities in ocean zone as one of the top-priority objectives. Rotation of warships in the Gulf of Aden will continue. We plan to deploy a Northern Fleet ship in that region with the view to secure shipping", said the official.

He underlined that the previous task force had excellently accomplished the mission near the Horn of Africa. Pacific Fleet task force consisting of large ASW ship Admiral Vinogradov, tanker Pechenga, and salvage tug SB-522 is presently on the homeward cruise heading for Vladivostok.
