Ukrainian ex-prime minister and leader of opposition party Batkivschina Yulia Timoshenko calls for denunciation of agreement prolonging presence of Russia's Black Sea Fleet in Crimea until 2042.

On Apr 21, 2010 Russian and Ukrainian presidents Dmitry Medvedev and Viktor Yanukovich signed an agreement prolonging deployment of Black Sea Fleet in Crimea on 25 years after 2017 (until 2042) with possible 5-year extension. In exchange, Ukraine was granted a $100 discount for every 1,000 cubic meters of Russian natural gas. The agreement was ratified by national parliaments on Apr 27, 2010. Ukrainian opposition criticizes the document severely, perceiving it as infringement of national sovereignty.

On Wednesday Timoshenko endorsed a document saying all "patriotic" political parties should take every effort to push Russian fleet out of Ukraine after 2017, reports Timoshenko's personal website.

"We call patriotic forces to join efforts and launch all-Ukrainian campaign against the occupational agreements, and to clean our land from foreign military bases", says the document.

According to Timoshenko, the Black Sea Fleet agreement infracted national constitution which prohibits deployment of foreign military bases in Ukraine.

"Ukraine is under a risk to be drawn into international conflicts because of Russian fleet... In this regard, plans of current administration to allow rearmaments of Black Sea Fleet look absolutely irresponsible. We demand fulfillment of framework agreements tied in 1997 which prohibit qualitative changes in the Russian fleet's armaments", says the document endorsed by Timoshenko.
