Pella Shipyard, Russian Navy tied a contract for 7 tugboats

10.05.2011 Pella Shipyard (St. Petersburg) on May 6 signed a shipbuilding contract for subsequent series of Project 90600 azimuth tugboats for Russian Navy.

The yard has built 5 tugs of this project for Russian Navy since 2008. Four of them serve in Northern Fleet, one – in Black Sea Fleet. Another tug launched in mid-Apr will also join Black Sea Fleet till the current year is over.

Thanks to a perfect combination of performance characteristics as of cost-efficiency factor, Navy selected tugboats of this project to replace worn-out and obsolete tugs built in 70-80's. Apart from Project 90600 tugboats, Pella Shipyard builds a series of larger tugs (Project 16609) for Russian Navy. The first one is to be delivered in the nearest time.

Tugs built by JSC Pella are in demand among civilian customers, too.
