JSC R.E.T. Kronshtadt (member of Tranzas concern) completes assembling of Laguna-11661 simulator used for crew training of Gepard class corvettes built by Zelenodolsk Shipyard (Russia), said the company's director Evgeny Komrakov.
Earlier on, the company delivered a simulator for Molniya missile boats to Vietnam. In 2012 it is planned to complete construction of a simulator for Project 636 submarines under Vietnamese order. R.E.T. Kronshtadt participates in this work as a subcontractor of JSC Avrora, informed Komrakov.
In the nearest time R.E.T. Kronshtadt also plans to start construction of a simulator for Turkmenian Navy which had ordered two Molniya class missile boats from Russia and is about to order other two. Rosoboronexport has already agreed upon the simulator contract with Turkmenia; it will take effect within 6 months. "After that we'll complete the works in a year", said the official.
As for him, the simulator is sophisticated and expensive system which requires 100% imitation of a warship and its onboard equipment.
"For instance, the simulator currently assembled in Vietnam has 56 work positions, and seven departments operating in three modes", said the director general.
Komrakov complained that R.E.T. Kronshtadt builds naval and air simulators only for foreign orderers. Despite active hardware modernization, Russian Armed Forces do not purchase simulators. Alongside with that, western countries are serious about this area. In developed countries, portion of various educational facilities is 7-10 per cent of overall procured warlike equipment. In Russia, this parameter does not exceed 0.3%.
