Pacific Fleet (PF) task unit consisting of large ASW ship Admiral Panteleyev and rescue tug Fotiy Krylov arrived in Chinese port Shanghai on June 7 underway the homeward cruise from Indonesia, reported RIA Novosti referring to PF Commander's press secretary Capt 1 rank Roman Martov.
The task unit commanded by Capt 1 rank Viktor Sokolov visited Singapore in May 16-20. Pacific mariners took part in traditional defense exhibition IMDEX-2011. The culmination was joint Russian-Singaporean anti-piracy drill.
After Singapore, the unit paid friendly visit to Indonesian port Makassar. Russian and Indonesian servicemen held joined maneuvering, communication, and life-saving drills; also, partners discussed protection of maritime shipping from pirate attacks.
"Having left Indonesia, Russian ships headed for Vladivostok and paid a 2-day call at Shanghai port", said the interviewee.
As for him, Pacific mariners will replenish fuel and food supplies, have sightseeing tour over the megalopolis, and conduct a number of informal meetings with foreign counterparts.
"Chinese mariners plan to return a call at Vladivostok late in summer", added Martov.
He recalled that in 2009 the crew of large ASW ship Admiral Panteleyev was on anti-piracy mission in the Gulf of Aden within the second PF task force. During combat watch off Somalia mariners detained a 29-man pirate gang.
