Educatees of Kaliningrad orphan home Yantarik visited the crew of the Baltic Fleet (BF) flagship destroyer Nastoichivy on June 21, reports BF Information Support Group.

Hospitable mariners have met numerous high-ranking delegations on board Nastoichivy; that is indicated in the ship's guest book. Meeting with orphan children was especially warm-hearted.

Having met the young guests at the staircases, the ship's executive officer Capt 2 rank Sergei Barsukov conducted an excursion over the ship, told about shipborne service and naval traditions essential for every mariner. The kids witnessed one of them – a tradition to meet and accompany guests along the starboard and to present naval souvenirs.

Sailors gifted pennants and a documentary about Nastoichivy to children as remembrance of the visit. Thanks to assistance of Kaliningrad regional veteran organization Lev, all children received genuine naval striped shirts.

"Our country has many kind and charitable people unindifferent to the future of orphan children", said the chairman of the organization Artyom Monakhov. "We hope such meetings would help them to become worthy people".

In response to hospitality of naval servicemen, children gave a concert specially prepared for the crew of Nastoichivy. Directors of the orphan home handed letters of gratitude to BF Commander and the ship's crew for attention given to the oncoming generation. According to teachers, orphan children lack alive relations and masculine care.

"Our kids are visiting the real warship for the first time", said assistant director of the orphan home Olga Stetsiuk. "This tour has left a lasting impression. Boys will serve in the military one day, and probably some of them would be posted on this ship".

In the same day children visited Baltic Fleet Museum. During the well-arranged excursion, kids were especially impressed by development history of submarine force and reconnaissance assets.

The day spent with BF mariners made a high emotional impact on the orphan children. Some of them were impressed by size and arms of the warship, others were enthused of chatting with naval servicemen, boys were het up about SEAL service… All of young guests were happy to receive striped shirts and wore them on their way back to Kaliningrad.
