Black Sea Fleet (BSF) air bases stationed in Gvardeiskoye and Kacha (Crimea, Ukraine) on 21 Aug received the colors which will be official symbols of the military units, reports RIA Novosti.

"The colors symbolize courage, honor, and fortitude. It is especially pleasant that the presidential order to hand over colors is executed today, on the Russian Air Force Day", said BSF Naval Aviation Commander Gen Maj Alexander Otroschenko congratulating servicemen of Gvardeiskoye Air Base located near Simferopol.

When aviators received new flag, they bend the knee in front of the historical symbol of the unit – the colors of 43rd Sevastopol Fighter Regiment decorated with the Red Banner Order and the Kutuzov Order. That was the unit's name before renaming in 2009.

The BSF Commander's press secretary Vyacheslav Trukhachev told to RIA Novosti by phone that similar colors-handing ceremony was held at Kacha Air Base near Sevastopol.
