Pacific Fleet Chief of Staff met with Japan's Consul General in Vladivostok

06.09.2011 Protocol meeting of Pacific Fleet (PF) Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Sergei Avakiants and Japan's Consul General in Vladivostok Nobuaki Ito was held in the PF Naval Officers' Club.

The parties pointed out growing level of contacts between Pacific Fleet and Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force. PF Chief of Staff and Japan's Consul General discussed development prospects of international activities between naval servicemen of the two countries.

In Sept 2011, Guard missile cruiser Varyag will pay informal call at the port of Maizuru to conduct joint Russian-Japanese search-and-rescue exercise.
