Black Sea Fleet (BSF) large landing ship Caesar Kunikov returned to Sevastopol fr om the Mediterranean Sea wh ere she visited Greek ports of Corfu, Pilos, Piraeus, Alexandroupoli and Montenegrin port of Kotor.
Visit of
Caesar Kunikov to Corfu was held within the framework of public forum "Russian Week on Corfu"; the crew took part in Admiral F. Ushakov memorial activities.
Traditional visit to Pilos was associated with anniversary of Navarino Battle when on Oct 20, 1827 joint naval squadron of Russia, Great Britain, and France defeated the Ottoman fleet.
In Piraeus, the crew of
Caesar Kunikov along with representatives of Russian embassy and local authorities paid honors to Russian sailors at the city cemetery.
Visiting Alexandroupoli, Russian mariners participated in festivities of Greek national holiday – the Ohi Day.
At all call ports including Montenegrin port Kotor, BSF band and song-and-dance company gave concerts; servicemen of the fleet's marine brigade took part in two festive parades in Pilos and Alexandroupoli.
The ship had been at sea for over a month and covered about 3,000 nautical miles.
