On March 20, Kronshtadt Fire Dept received the alarm call from FSUE Kronshtadt Marine Plant. The shipyard's staff managed to neutralize the fire before firefighters arrived.
According to Fontanka referred to St. Petersburg EMERCOM Department, the alarm call was received at 2.30 pm, but the fire was insignificant so the shipwrights coped with it by themselves. EMERCOM firefighters did not participate in the fire extinguishing.
Reportedly, the fire occurred during welding works on repaired diesel submarine Vyborg. Although that was a simple fumigation, the shipyard's staff carefully followed instructions, i.e. alarmed, called in firefighters, and then started fire extinguishing.
