Short circuit of electric wiring occurred on physical field control ship Vladimir Peregudov.
When the accident happened, the ship was moored at Roslyakovo basing site, Murmansk region. Interior premises were fumigated, and fire party instantly arrived on the ship.
"Duty shift reacted immediately. Sailors ruptured the cabin's coating and neutralized fumigation", said a source in Northern Fleet. "Wires are very old, so it might be a reason of short circuit", he added.
Causes of ignition and circumstances of the incident are being currently investigated. Reportedly, shipwrights did not recourse to assistance of EMERCOM firefighters.
"Nobody died or suffered, the fire was brought under control by available means", added the source.
Special-purpose ship Vladimir Peregudov is designed for physical field measurements of naval ships. It is the fourth fire incident on board Northern Fleet ships through recent months.
In Dec 2011, nuclear-powered submarine SSBN Yekaterinburg inflamed at 82-nd Ship Repair Plant in Roslyakovo. Few weeks later, fire occurred on nuclear sub Gepard in Gadzhievo. Then, patrol ship Ural ignited in Murmansk.
