Norwegian military delegation has finished the visit to Russia's Northern Fleet (NF) on May 10. The visit was held under international cooperation and ties development program of Russian Armed Forces. The delegation was led by Vice Admiral Haakon Bruun-Hanssen, the head of Norwegian Joint Command.

During the visit, Vice Admiral Haakon Bruun-Hanssen met with NF Commander Vladimir Korolev. On board NF destroyer Admiral Chabanenko, the parties discussed the coming Pomor-2012 joint naval exercise.

On May 9 Norwegian servicemen attended all festivities related to the Victory Day. Prior to that, Norwegians visited the Valley of Fame in Murmansk region and took part in the Remembrance Watch annual action.

The guests also visited NF Kirkines Marine Regiment. Russian marines demonstrated hand-to-hand combat, firing drills, and barrier field overcoming.

Relations between Russian and Norwegian servicemen have been actively developing since 2007 when NF delegation for the first time visited Norwegian Command in Bodo. Since that time exchange of military delegations is held on the annual basis.

In Apr 2011, Norwegian delegation headed by Chief of Staff General Morten Lunde visited Severomorsk, Russia. When visiting Norway in Feb 2012, Russia's Western Military District Commander Col Gen Arkady Bakhin met with Norwegian Armed Forces Commander General Harald Sunde.
