Russian Defense Ministry decided to prolong deployment of Black Sea Fleet (BSF) destroyer Smetlivy off Syria. The ship's commanding officer received appropriate order on May 18.

According to Interfax referring to a BSF spokesman, such decision was caused by the regional situation. According to Russian intelligence, presence of American, French, British, German and other warships in East Mediterranean has been notably intensified.

At present, reconnaissance ship Kildin, mid-size seagoing replenishment tanker Iman, and floating workshop PM-138 are deployed off Syria except for Smetlivy.
