Tactical flight drills took place in northeast Russia. Aircrews of Il-38 antisubmarine patrol aircraft were polishing their combat skills, reports Eastern Military District Press Service.

The exercise objectives were practicing interaction between aircrews and land base, passing qualification drills, checking of aircraft technical conditions, and training of young pilots.

Main feature of those flights was pilotage of ASW aircraft over land and sea, both at operating and ultra low altitudes (100 meters for airplanes of that class).

During the exercise, pilots practiced pilotage at different angles, takeoff maneuvering, and landing in bad weather conditions including nighttime ones.

Performing flights over sea, aircrews trained interaction with surface warships at search-and-rescue operations, and carried out submarine search and destruction drills. Pilots dropped hydro-acoustic buoys and used them for targeting information sent to ship task group.
