Being in St. Petersburg on working trip, Viktor Chirkov visited the Krylov institute to get acquainted with its military-oriented activities.
The Navy commander met with the institute director Andrei Dutov, watched unique test and laboratory base, and discussed prospects of scientific developments in military shipbuilding.
In particular, VADM Chirkov watched underwater hardware tests in circulation testing tank designed for studying curvilinear motion of ship models and for estimation of hydrodynamic parameters of navigation control means.
The Navy commander visited physical field department and attended a briefing on stealth technology researches for military shipbuilding.
Vice Admiral Viktor Chirkov was shown a deepwater experimental basin used for towing and self-propulsion tests in conditions of deep water and under surface, as well as for tests of screws and isolated propeller systems of ships and submarines.
