Russian Navy to Attend RIMPAC Exercise for First 09.06.2012

In 2012, naval diplomacy program in the Pacific is launched by a task unit consisting of Pacific Fleet (PF) destroyer Admiral Panteleyev, tanker Boris Butoma, and ocean-going rescue ship Fotiy Krylov. Headed by PF Surface Ship Division Deputy Commander Capt 1 Rank Sergei Sobokor, the unit will set a course for Hawaii on June 13, 2012.

According to the international agreement, PF mariners will take part in the RIMPAC-2012 large-scale multinational naval exercise.

Russian ships will attend that joint biennial maneuvers for the first time.

The first RIMPAC exercise was held by warships of the US, Canada, and Australia. This time, 45 ships from 23 countries will rendezvous at Hawaii. Active phase of the large-scale maneuvers will be held since July 11 through Aug 2, 2012.
