Black Sea Fleet (BSF) large landing ship Caesar Kunikov returned from the Mediterranean Sea to Sevastopol having covered over 2,500 nautical miles.
The ship headed by Capt 2 Rank Alexei Bezaliuk was representing Russian Navy on Italian island Sicily and attended activities memorizing Russian sailors rescued locals of Messina during the earthquake in 1908.
The crewmen accompanied by the honor guard company and BSF band took part in the opening ceremony of a bust monument to the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II in the town of Taormina, a monument to Russian sailors in Messina, and memorable plaque in Reggio Di Calabria.
The BSF naval band gave two parade concerts for locals of Messina and Taormina.
On the occasion of the ship's return, a traditional meeting ceremony took place in Sevastopol.
After replenishment of all supplies, landing ship
Caesar Kunikov will be ready to accomplish new tasks at sea.
