Crew of Northern Fleet (NF) destroyer Admiral Chabanenko has accomplished firing drills in the Barents Sea expecting the Northern Eagle 2012 joint naval exercise.

Operators of AK-130 shipborne gun mount and Kortik antiaircraft system practiced destruction of sea and air targets. Marine platoon repelled attacks of small-size fast-speed craft, having effectively destroyed all targets by Utes large-caliber machinegun and PKM machineguns.

All combat training tasks were completed successfully.

As is planned, ships participating in the Russian-American-Norwegian naval exercise Northern Eagle 2012 will carry out similar firing drills with practical use of ship-based guns and small arms.

The Northern Eagle 2012 trilateral naval exercise will be held late Aug in the Norwegian and Barents seas. It will be attended by warships of Russian, Norwegian, and the US navies. The exercise is going to be held for the fourth time. Its traditional objective is to practice cooperation amid navies in counter-terror, antipiracy, and rescue operations.
