Russian Navy HQ Works in St. Petersburg for 3 Months Now 17.08.2012

Russian Navy Main HQ has been working in St. Petersburg for three months now, said Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Viktor Chirkov said today addressing the keel-laying ceremony of conventional submarine Stary Oskol at Admiralteyskie Verfi shipyard.

According to Viktor Chirkov, by the end of August all officers and operators of the Navy HQ will serve in St. Petersburg. Over 100 apartments were given them in the 'northern capital'. Delivery of staff documents and equipment is to be completed by that time as well.

As was earlier reported by Central Navy Portal, Viktor Chirkov told that transfer of Russian Navy Main HQ to St. Petersburg had started in June 2012. Officers and commanding staff whose presence is required for proper operation of the navy headquarters, have already arrived in St. Petersburg.

According to military experts, transfer of the Navy HQ from Moscow to St. Petersburg cost defense ministry RUR 40-50 bln.
