Royal Swedish Navy's minesweepers HMS Vinga and HMS Ulvön on Sept 7 arrived at Russian Baltic Fleet (BF) main naval base Baltiysk.
After mooring, the head of Swedish delegation Col. Ola Truedsson gave a press conference on board HMS
Ulvön. He pointed out that the plan included visiting of BF Marine Brigade and BF Harbor Defense Brigade. Generally, the purpose of the visit is exchange of experience between Russian and Swedish servicemen, planning and discussion of further joint exercises and mutual visits.
Colonel Ola Truedsson expressed hope that the call at Baltiysk would strengthen ties between Swedish and Russian naval mariners.
The Swedish delegation discussed details of coming briefings and program of the visit with Baltiysk Naval Base Commander RADM Sergei Popov.
According to the visit program, mariners of the both countries competed in volleyball and tug-of-war, held banquets in mess-rooms of Swedish minesweepers and host ship BF harbor minesweeper
BT-212, and joint firing drills at Khmelevka Range.
