JSC Yantar Shipyard (Kaliningrad, Russia) postponed official keel-laying ceremony of the fourth Project 11356 frigate for indefinite period.
As was earlier reported, the shipyard was supposed to lay down frigate
Admiral Butakov meant for Russian Navy on Oct 12, 2012.
Project 11356 was developed by JSC
Severnoye Design Bureau. Lead ship of the series, frigate
Admiral Grigorovich was laid down on Dec 18, 2010. The second ship, frigate
Admiral Essen was keel-laid on July 8, 2011. The third one,
Admiral Makarov was laid down on Feb 29, 2012.
Yantar shipyard is supposed to deliver six frigates of this class to Russian Navy in 2014-2016.
Project 11356 frigates are designed for antisubmarine/antisurface/antiaircraft warfare in high seas both independently and within task forces as escort ships.
Yantar builds this series of frigates for Russian Navy. In accordance with 2 contracts signed with Russian defense ministry, the shipyard will construct six Project 11356 frigates.
