Joint Norwegian-Russian database on illegal fishing

13.05.2008 The Norwegian and Russian coast guards have decided to develop a joint database with information on vessels engaged in illegal fishing.

- This will make it easier to catch the violators, head of the Coast Guard in northern Norway, Mr. Steve Olsen says.

Until now, the two countries’ coast guards have exchanged information on pirate vessels over telephone, fax or email. Soon, all information will be included in the new electronic database.
