Head of the Norwegian regional command in northern Norway believes the current modernization of the Russian Armed Forces is a sign of a more healthy Russian state. –This is more to the good than not to the good, Mr. Trond Grytting says.
Speaking to Norwegian broadcaster NRK, Mr. Grytting says he sees no threat in the increased Russian military activities in the north. On the contrary, the Norwegian military leader believes the modernization of the Russian Armed Forces is a sign of a more healthy state.
- For a state it is a sign of good health that the military is in order. They have struggled with insufficient resources and evidently had less exercises than what they wanted, Mr. Grytting adds.
He also admits that he sees much of the new Russian military investments as part of both the country’s domestic and foreign policy. – After all, the Armed Forces are an instrument. Everything the armed forces do is part of politics, he argues.
