Six warships that were part of Peter The Great’s fleet were found 50 meters under the Baltic Sea during the construction of the North Stream pipeline.
One of the ships has been identified as the 16-meter transport warship -
tyalk. The ship was build based on a Dutch design. Although the ship has been seriously damaged by its long stay underwater, the utensils on board remain in almost ideal conditions.
The
tyalk could seriously complicate the construction of the North Stream, so engineers are considering raising it to the surface. Provided there is state help, the
tyalk will be raised to the surface next summer and sent to Kaliningrad to be exhibited at the Museum of the World Ocean.
