The sports center opened in Polyarny

24.09.2009
The opening ceremony of sports center Kaskad took place in closed political subdivision (CPS) Polyarny, Murmansk region. The object was built by local authorities at the expense of subventions appropriated from federal budget. Kaskad comprises a number of sports facilities. It includes: children's swimming pool, adult's swimming pool (six lanes), halls for aerobics and ping-pong and other facilities. The staff of the sports center will be 18 men; Kaskad's capacity in one shift makes 350 persons including even 90 fans.

This gift to Northern Fleet mariners and their families was associated to the city's 110th anniversary. CPS Polyarny (previously known as Alexandrovsk, the very first naval base of Northern Fleet) has been worthily performing honorable duty of the country's defense.

The Governor of Murmansk region, the mayor and representatives of Northern Fleet and Polyarny's community took part in the ceremony and had the were honored to cut the red tape.

…The picturesque building of sports center erected in the heart of the city animates rough northern scenery of the CPS in a precious way. But that is not the main idea, of course. Kaskad gives servicemen the possibility to spend leisure time contensively, hardening and keeping themselves in tonus. It is especially worth rejoicing at their family members – young northerners – who have the opportunity to make first steps into professional sport, Olympic medals and world records in the new modern sport center!
