Russian Ministry of Defense plans to reduce governmental defense order 2010 (GDO) on repair of nuclear submarines for OJSC Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center (Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk region) on over 30% comparing with 2009. That was said by PRIME-TASS referring to Vladimir Nikitin, shipyard's Director General.
"In 2009 working efficiency of the shipyard will make 11.5 bln rub. But nowadays Ministry of Defense sequesters defensive order even for signed contracts. Therefore, final sums may significantly differ from expected. We also wait for further decrease of GDO on ship repairs in 2010. Supposedly, in comparison with 2009 this decrease will make more than 30%. It would be serious challenge for
Zvezdochka having more than half of Navy's workload", said V. Nikitin.
According to him, with a view to GDO sequestration the issue of repair 3rd generation ships at the shipyard remains unsettled.
