Andrei Diachkov headed the key Russian sub-building center Rubin

Professional shipwright Andrei Diachkov headed key Russian scientific and design sub-building center – OJSC Rubin Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering (CDB). He was approved at shareholders' meeting of United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), parent company of the design bureau.

All professional life of Andrei Diachkov is connected with Sevmashpredpriyatie Shipyard (Severodvinsk), Sergei Farafonov, USC vice president said in interview to ITAR-TASS. At Sevmash Mr. Diachkov has passed every career stair, from fitter trainee to deputy director general. The previous leader of Rubin Vladimir Zdornov who had been heading the design bureau since 2007 will continue working at Rubin.

The most significant projects of nuclear-powered and diesel-electric submarines developed in the past decades are associated with the name of Igor Spassky, a member of Russian Academy of Sciences and longstanding director of Rubin. Currently, he is a general designer of one of Rubin's departments.

Among recent priority projects designed at Rubin for the Navy are Yury Dolgoruky-type nuclear powered submarine and 4-generation Lada-class diesel-electric submarine.
